UI Graduate String Quartet
The UI New Music
Ensemble and the UI Graduate String Quartet perform the
winning compositions from the 2003 Martirano Composition Award
Competition,
including the epic "String
Quartet" by Dutch composer Edward Top who received
the $1,000 first prize. French composer Clara Maidas atmospheric
"Holes and
Bones" (second prize) and the experimental "Offen-Fin
Des Terres" (honorable
mention) by German composer Gerald Eckert will also be performed
along with
major works by Luciano Berio and Salvatore Martirano.
